Muktinath Temple

The famous temple among the Hindus lies in the district of Mustang at an altitude of 3749 meters. It is about 48 kilometers from Jomsom. This temple is situated on the high mountain range and is the oldest Hindu temple of the Lord Bishnu. This temple contains 108 dhungedhara (stone taps) and there is the belief that bathing in this 108 taps will get the pilgrims free from all the sins and natural gas fire makes the pilgrims more energetic and stronger. So, during the Janai Purnima festival, pilgrims gather here to pay homage to the Lord Muktinath. There is also a Buddhist monastery and a pagoda type temple dedicated to Jawla Mai (goddess of fire). So, this pure shrine is both for the Hindus and the Buddhist pilgrims.

Upper Mustang

Mustang can be defined as the Himalayan Kingdom behind the mountains. It consists of two distinct regions i.e. southern and northern part where the culture, language and the tradition are like to those Tibetan people. This region has the spectacular view of the beautiful desert landscapes, monasteries, multi-storied white wash houses, crumbling castles and so on. Cave hoses located on the hills are also the main attraction of this region. The houses and temples are mostly constructed by mud, stones, mud-bricks and the locally available materials. The trek to Lo-Manthang is through the high altitude desert country and the gorge in which the Kali Gandaki river flows is the deepest gorge in the world. An best example of the isolated place with the great natural potential.

Lower Mustang

Lower Mustang is the village which is the gateway of Upper Mustang and the famous Muktinath pilgrimage site and is also the . Here, mostly the residents are Thakalis. In this place, we can just experience the beautiful landscapes, field full of millet or wheat moving towards the direction of the wind which is just amazing. The people mostly here are engaged in the tourism business and Lower Mustang can be the great place for taking rest to the pilgrims and the tourists. This is also the great place for the trekking. Lower Mustang covers the lower valley along the Kali Gandaki river. Jomsom , the dazzling place is in the Lower Mustang and the major part is in the upper Mustang river. Traveling here will take us to the ancient memory lane of the ancient Mustang Kingdom.

Mustang

Mustang is also known as the forbidden Kingdom which lies in the western part of Nepal and officially known as the Tibet like region. It lies in the banks of Kali Gandaki river and is divided into two parts i.e. Lower Mustang and Upper Mustang. It has got it's amazing fact too. Mustang is only the district in Nepal with it's own King. The houses generally here are made up of sands, stones, mud bricks which are sun based and residents of Mustang themselves called as Lobas. The attraction of Mustang is City wall and four storey palace in Lo Manthang. Here, we can observe the various ancient arts and architecture, Landscape, Monastery, and various Himalaya ranges along with the local culture.

Jomsom

Jomsom can be defined as the small town located in the upper Kali Gandaki valley. Jomsom is the capital of Mustang and is dominated by the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri ranges and situated at the bank of the Kali Gandaki river. Jomsom is also correctly known as the Dzongsam or the New Fort. It can be also called the dry land or the desert of Nepal. It is also the area offering the green landscapes, holy temples, monasteries, fast-flowing rivers and a lake called Turquoise Lake. Here, the climatic condition is cold and wet and snow-fall occurs in the winter seasons. This place Jomsom is accessible through the regular flight conducted from the Pokhara Airport and we can conduct a trek from Pokhara through Beni to Jomsom. Here the local residents are mostly Gurungs, Sherpas, Thakali and so on following their unique and the challenging living-standards. Due to the harsh climatic condition and topography mostly people residing here are dependent on the tourism activities rather than the agriculture. People mostly here follows Buddhism. Recently, a road way has touched Jomsom and is graveled. A new variety of people, culture, places, and their living standard can be experienced in this place.

Other Activities In Pokhara

Other recreational activities are also conducted in the Pokhara. Due to the prevalence of the fast flowing rivers, rafting is possible in this valley. Similarly, as the Pokhara is the gate-way for the trekking, various treks are conducted from here to the various destinations. One of the greatest attraction can be the ultra-light flight in Pokhara. Booking are available on the various agencies in accordance with the hours of the flights to be taken and the amount is charged in accordance. Various tourists destinations, mountains range and other scenery can be observed through out the sky which can be the great experience and the thrill.

International Mountain Museum (Pokhara)

This International Mountain Museum is a museum which is devoted to the Himalayan culture, Mountaineers and all the aspect related to the mountaineering. It was established and opened in the year 2002. It is just after the Himalayan Eye Hospital. Here we can learn about the cultural and the living standards of the Himalayan people. Various tools, equipments, information related to the mountaineering are here exhibited in this museum. Various fossils, sediments, rocks, The Tale of Yeti are also reflected here. Buddhism is also reflected here by making the sample of the Buddhist monastery inside the museum. The area of the museum is big enough and various parks and a sample of mountain is established here inside the boundary and here we can do rock climbing too. Ramps are also made to the visitors who are on the way with their wheel chair and wheel chair are also provided on the request. Here inside the museum we have got various sections and in each section we can know different facts related to the mountaineering and the culture of the Himalayas.

Bindabashini Temple (Pokhara)

Bindabasini Temple is one of the most popular shrine among the Hindu's people. Locally, this temple is called Bhindhyabasini Mandir. This temple is located on the hilltop and is at 3000 meters from the sea level. This temple is white pagoda styled and is located in the old bazaar of the Pokhara valley. This temple is devoted to the Hindu goddess Durga also known as Shakti or Maa Kali the symbol or the blood thirsty aspect of the goddess Durga. There is the daily worshiping up to 9 days during the greatest festival of the Hindus i.e. Bada Dashain as it is the victory of the truth over the untruth or the demons. So, the sacrifice is given to the goddess on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Just at the opposite side of the Bindabasini Temple, there is another temple called Krishna Mandir where the annual birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated on the day called Krishna Janmaaastami. Other rituals such as marriage, Barta-Bandha are held on this religious shrine. And the scented fragrances of "Dhup" gives the fresh and the cool environment.

Mahendra and Bat Cave (Pokhara)

Mahendra cave is also one of the major tourist attraction in Pokhara. It is located at Batulechaur, Pokhara just a few kilometers away from the town. As, the name suggests, it is named after the name of the Late king Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. The cave itself is amazing and we can see the various natural shapes and images of the various hindu god and goddess on the stone made of the lime. Here, for the safety measures, electricity is provided through out the cave and additional torch and emergency lights can be taken for the convinence. The area is surrounded by the community forest at the hillside and at the end of road there flows the small river called the Kali Khola.


Just a ten minutes walk from the Mahendra Cave, there lies a another cave named the Bat Cave. In Nepali language, it is also called Chameri Gufa. As the name suggests, it is named after the bats as there is the prevalence or the habitats of the bats over the cave's wall and the ceilings. The cave is made of up the limestone and there is the provision of the torch and the emergency lights for the view of the cave. Also, there is the provision of the guides for the assistance. Apart from it's attraction, it is also rich in greenery as the surroundings of  the cave is covered by the forest.

Davis Falls (Pokhara)

Davis falls is also one of the greatest tourists attraction in Pokhara. After the name of this falls, there is a great tragedy. In the year 1961, a Swiss tourist who was just swimming in the fewa lake was swept away due to the unexpected overflow in the dam water and her husband was helpless. Thus, her body was never recovered and was vanished forever.In Nepali it is also called Patale Chango (underground falls). As, the name given the water flows under the ground through it's natural tunnel made by the water currents beneath the land. The water passes through the cave called Gupteshwor Cave beneath the land. The source of water is provided through the dam of Phewa Lake and in the rainy seasons the rise in the water level increases the flow and density of water in this fall. The natural scenery is very impressive.

Sarangkot (Pokhara)

Sarangkot is one of the best tourist destination of the Pokhara valley. It is above 1592 meters from the sea level and 700 meters from the city. So, being at the perfect height from the city, we can view the Pokhara valley along with it's lake and rivers. From the view tower, we can view the amazing Annapurna range through the help of the binoculars available there. The view is efficient when the sky is clear and the day is sunny. Here we can reach through the means of the transportation available there and interested ones can do a short trekking which is full of excitement. The hills are full of the green forests and we can refresh our mind and soul too. On the way towards the tower, there is a big temple of the lord Shiva and is a pure shrine for the local people.


Beside from it's spectacular views and religious shire, Sarangkot is also famous for one thing and that is paragliding. Various people throughout the world come here to experience the thrill and the excitement of this adventurous sport flight. Various bookings are available in the Lakeside through various related offices. The transportation is free up to the hill top and they are again picked from the landing spots. While doing the paragliding, we can see the see the spectacular views of rivers, lake and the others tourist's destination from the sky. Flights are conducted through the experienced personnel and the one who want their own flight can hire a parachute. So, it's a great excitement and a great experience to be there is such a beautiful place with such a great features.
