Muktinath Temple

The famous temple among the Hindus lies in the district of Mustang at an altitude of 3749 meters. It is about 48 kilometers from Jomsom. This temple is situated on the high mountain range and is the oldest Hindu temple of the Lord Bishnu. This temple contains 108 dhungedhara (stone taps) and there is the belief that bathing in this 108 taps will get the pilgrims free from all the sins and natural gas fire makes the pilgrims more energetic and stronger. So, during the Janai Purnima festival, pilgrims gather here to pay homage to the Lord Muktinath. There is also a Buddhist monastery and a pagoda type temple dedicated to Jawla Mai (goddess of fire). So, this pure shrine is both for the Hindus and the Buddhist pilgrims.
